Steel City Improv Theater’s Musical Improv Program begins October 2011.
Intro To Musical Improv
You don’t have to be a great singer – in fact, you don’t have to know how to sing at all – to be a great musical improviser. This super fun 6 week class uses the fundamentals of song structure and musicals and shows you how to make up great songs on the spot.
There will be a class show at the end of the 6 weeks.
Musical Improv: Level 1
Long form musical improv is exhilarating to watch and even more to perform! Students will learn the basics of improvising long form musical improvisation. Learning and practicing structures Duets, Trios, Opening Numbers, and Choruses. Session is eight weekly classes.
There will be a class show at the end of the 8 weeks.
Prerequisite: Improv Level One or Equivalent Experience – NOTE: You do not have to take Intro to Musical Improv to take this class.
Musical Improv: Level 2
Students will explore Group Dynamics, Advanced Song Structures, and Choreography. Session is eight weekly classes.
There will be a class show at the end of the 8 weeks.
Prerequisite: Musical Improv Level 1
Musical Improv: Level 3
Students learn to create an Improvised Musical. Level 3 takes what students have learned in Levels 1 & 2 to create a long form improvised musical. Session is eight weekly classes.
There will be a class show at the end of the 8 weeks.
Prerequisite: Musical Improv Level 2
