MIND, BODY AND HEART

Guest Instructor: ELIZABETH QUINN

As an actor and improviser you have three ways to communicate information about your character: physically, emotionally and verbally. In this class you’ll work on several exercises that strengthen each of these areas of communication, and then use what you’ve learned in scene work.

Date and Time: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2011 from 7pm-10pm (ONE CLASS)

Location: STEEL CITY IMPROV THEATER

Prerequisite: Improv Level One or equivalent experience

Limited to 12 participants.

REAL LIKE CRAZY

Guest Instructor: CHRIS GRACE

This class will explore both the naturalistic, grounded side of your improvised scene work and the pursuit of absurd comedy from the same point: that your individual spirit should always be present. While we’ve seen every crazy funny situation in the world before, we’ve never seen YOU in that crazy funny situation. Whether you’re sipping coffee with a friend at work or killing a dragon to get the magic sword to save the village, your personal character should always play a part, whether the audience can tell or not.

Date and Time: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30 AND THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1 , 2011 from 7pm-10pm (TWO CLASSES)

Location: STEEL CITY IMPROV THEATER

Prerequisite: Improv Level One or equivalent experience

Limited to 12 participants.

Class show: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2011, 9:30 PM at STEEL CITY IMPROV THEATER.

LESS IS MORE

Guest Instructor: ELIZABETH QUINN

This class is about working in an economical way to strengthen your scenes and connect with your scene partner in a compelling, truthful way. Exercises will focus on patient scene work that is built line-by-line and moment-by-moment to create engaging, improvised theatre. Learn to trust that you are enough, that silences speak volumes about what’s going on, and that the truth will always lead to humor.

Date and Time: TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6 AND 7, 2011 from 7pm-10pm (TWO CLASSES)

Location: STEEL CITY IMPROV THEATER

Prerequisite: Improv Level One or equivalent experience

Limited to 12 participants.
